Rates, surcharges and wage periods
Workers' hourly rates, wage surcharges for weekends, public holidays and nights, non-working day coefficients, wage periods and DPP limits.
This page describes what the price of work in Wages and in the project costs is calculated from, and how the company sets up surcharges and wage periods.
Rates, surcharges, coefficients, wage periods and DPP limits are set only by the administrator (rates on the user card, the rest in Company settings). A user who has the editace (edit) level for the Wages module in their Role cannot change them; they only calculate and close wages based on them in Wages.
A worker's hourly rates
Rates are entered on the user card on the Personalistika (HR) tab, in the Mzdy (Wages) section (see HR):
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Platnost od (Valid from) | The day from which the rate applies. |
| Platnost do (Valid until) | Calculated automatically from the next rate. |
| Hod. hrubá mzda (Hourly gross wage) | Used for project costs (approved reports). |
| Hod. čistá mzda (Hourly net wage) | Used to calculate the wage to be paid. |
When the rate changes, do not overwrite the old one; use the Přidat (Add) button to create a new row with a new validity. Each report is then priced at the rate valid on its date, and earlier months do not change.
The Typ smlouvy (Contract type) (HPP - employment contract, DPČ and DPP - work agreements) in HR also matters for the calculations: it controls surcharges, the monthly working hours, the annual vacation entitlement and the DPP check. A worker without a contract type is flagged in the Users list with the Chybí typ smlouvy (Missing contract type) label. For surcharges, monthly working hours and annual entitlement, such a worker is treated as HPP.
Wage surcharges
They are set in Nastavení firmy → Výkazy a mzdy → Mzdové příplatky (Company settings → Reports and wages → Wage surcharges) in two steps:
- Turn on the surcharge types: Víkendový příplatek (Weekend surcharge), Příplatek za svátky (Public holiday surcharge) and Noční příplatek (Night surcharge). For the night surcharge, set the night window (Noc od (Night from) and Noc do (Night to) in minutes from midnight, default 17:00-06:00; the window may cross midnight).
- In the Pravidla příplatků (Surcharge rules) section, add a rule: Typ (Type) (weekend, public holidays, night), Multiplier (1.5 = +50 %) and the Typy smlouvy (Contract types) it applies to. Save it with the Přidat pravidlo (Add rule) button.
Turning a surcharge on is not enough on its own. Until a rule with a multiplier exists for the given type and contract type, the base rate is used.
How surcharges are calculated:
- The report's hourly rate is multiplied: the net rate for the wage, the gross rate for project costs.
- Surcharges accumulate (Saturday night = weekend × night). A public holiday overrides the weekend.
- The night surcharge is applied proportionally to the part of the shift that falls within the night window.
- Weather reports and sick leave are not increased by surcharges.
- Surcharges show up in newly calculated amounts, i.e. in the wage when the period is closed, in costs when the report is approved, in the Mzdový rozpad (Wage breakdown) row in the report detail, and in the Amount column in the list of reports. On the payslip, the day shows e.g. "(víkend ×1,5)" (weekend ×1.5).
Monthly working hours condition
For the weekend surcharge you can turn on Podmínit naplněním měsíčního fondu (Require the monthly working hours to be met). The weekend surcharge is then given only to a worker who has reported at least the monthly working hours on the working days of the month (number of working days × working hours per day). Anyone who has worked less gets the base rate for the weekend.
- The working hours per day are set separately for HPP, DPČ and DPP. An empty field = 8 hours.
- Approved vacation and sick leave count towards the working hours as if the worker had worked the full daily hours on that day.
- The state of the working hours is shown in the Reports → Work reports report.
Non-working day coefficients
In Nastavení firmy → Mzdy (Company settings → Wages), in the Koeficienty nepracovních dnů (Non-working day coefficients) section, the Koeficient mzdy (Wage coefficient) and Počet hodin (Number of hours) are set for Počasí (Weather), Nemoc (Sick leave) and Dovolená (Vacation). A day when no work was done is paid as hourly rate × coefficient × number of hours.
| Default coefficient | Default hours | |
|---|---|---|
| Weather | 0.6 | 8 |
| Sick leave | 0.6 | 8 |
| Vacation | 1.0 | 8 |
The weather report is turned on in the Výkazy a docházka (Work reports and attendance) tab (see Work reports), and the transfer of sick leave and vacation into wages in the Dovolená a sick days (Vacation and sick days) tab (see Vacation and sick leave).
Lunch
By default, the lunch entered in a report is deducted from the time worked. With Přičítání oběda (Adding lunch) turned on (Nastavení firmy → Výkazy a docházka), the set lunch length is added to the time worked, i.e. paid. The same rule applies in wages, project costs and reports.
Wage periods
By default, wages are closed by calendar month. A company that pays for a different period (e.g. from the 19th to the 18th of the following month) turns on the Mzdy na období od–do (místo měsíce) (Wages for a from-to period (instead of a month)) switch in Nastavení firmy → Mzdy.
- Turn on Mzdy na období od–do (místo měsíce).
- Either enter the Den začátku období (Period start day) and Den konce období (Period end day) directly (they apply to the whole company), or create named periods in the Mzdová období (Wage periods) list with the Přidat období (Add period) button: Název (Name), Typ (Type) (from day to day, or calendar month), and for the from-to type Od dne (From day) and Do dne (To day). Mark one period as Výchozí (Default).
- Workers who have a period other than the default one get it assigned on the user card in HR in the Mzdové období (Wage period) field.
Once a list of periods exists, the company-wide pair of days is no longer used.
In Wages, instead of year and month there is then the Vyber mzdové období (Select wage period) selector, where the periods are grouped by the company's wage periods, and a Vlastní období (Custom period) option. When filtering to one worker, the period follows that worker's period. Closing a period closes wages only for workers with that period, so people with different pay cycles are not mixed (for a custom period, the group of workers is not limited; the app only checks that it does not overlap with an already paid period). The wage list gets a Období (Period) column, and the payslip shows the period instead of the year and month.
DPP limits
In Nastavení firmy → Mzdy, in the Limity DPP (DPP limits) section, the Přidat limit (Add limit) button is used to enter the Max. výše DPP (Maximum DPP amount) with a Platnost od (Valid from) date. The app uses the limit valid on the wage date. The limit is checked for advance requests from workers on a DPP when Aktivovat kontrolu DPP (Activate DPP check) is turned on (see Wages).
